How to calculate distance from speed and time

Multiply the average speed by the elapsed time: distance = speed × time. The time unit must match the speed unit. For mph or km/h, convert minutes to hours first.

Example: 60 mph for 45 minutes

45 minutes is 0.75 hours. Multiplying 60 × 0.75 gives 45 miles, or approximately 72.42 km.

When speed changes

Use the average speed across the same period as your elapsed time. If you use a moving speed, enter moving time. If you include stopped time, use an average that includes those stops.

This calculates distance traveled from speed and time. It does not find a route or the distance between two addresses.
